Our Approach

Frequently people think compassion and love are merely sentimental. No! They are very demanding. If you are going to be compassionate, be prepared for action!

Compassionate

We have all inherited a racialised world and have been subject to racial social conditioning. To build a more inclusive society we need to move away from a judgemental mindset to a compassionate one. Compassion invites us to understand our interconnectedness and brave the complex, nuanced and challenging conversations required to unpick and dismantle racism.

Disruptive

Becoming an anti-racist organisation involves disrupting existing cultures, practice, policies and norms. Current systems often produce, reproduce and entrench inequality and so for schools to become anti-racist requires disruption.

Anti - Racist

Anti-racist education recognises that just following the status quo is not enough to truly counter the deeper roots of racism. Anti-racist education works towards building education systems that are free from racial injustice, and critically engages with issues of power, identity and privilege.

Education

At an individual level the purpose of education is to enable all people to realise their innate potential to the full across a range of cultural, intellectual, artistic, physical and emotional activities. At a social level education serves as a key site for socialisation for a fairer, more egalitarian society.
